Introduction to Common Mental Health Issues
This learning option will focus on the most common mental health issues presented by school aged children. Participants will explore child and youth mental health problems, observable signs and symptoms and effective practices to support students with mental health challenges in the regular classroom.
Learning Outcomes
- To describe the prevalence and characteristics of common child and youth mental health problems
- To understand the stigma associated with mental health problems and steps to address this issue
- To examine effective practices in supporting students affected by mental health problems
Provider/Format
This course can be delivered by district personnel through face to face instruction. Instructor should be a trained school counselor or mental health professional
