Overview

The Support Staff Education and Adjustment Committee (the SSEAC) is a joint initiative of BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and unions representing support staff in the K-12 public education sector arising from the 2006 round of collective bargaining.
In May of 2006, a Framework Letter of Understanding was reached which included the establishment of the Public Education Support Staff Skills Enhancement, Apprenticeship and Workforce Adjustment Committee. The Committee has since re-named itself the “Support Staff Education and Adjustment Committee” and is commonly referred to as SSEAC.

The Committee was established to develop specific criteria to be used in allocating the funds provided to it under the Framework Letter of Understanding, including the processes and deadlines under which Districts and local unions may jointly seek to access funds held by the Committee.

The funds include:

  • Apprenticeship Opportunities Fund
  • Skills Enhancement and Retraining Fund
  • Apprentice Sponsor Funds
  • Workforce Adjustment Committee
  • Labour Market Adjustment
  • Trades Adjustment
